Some of the larger 1-to-1 computing initiatives under way include:

November 2005

Fullerton, California
Students at four Fullerton School District schools are using laptop computers both at school and at home, seven days a week. In this pilot program, students in grades two through eight are carrying Macintosh iBook G4 computers to all of their classes. The district's initiative has involved more than 1,000 laptops for students in grades 3-7. September 2005

Broward County, Florida
Broward County, Florida purchases 30,000 laptop computers.

March 2005

Connecticut
Gov. Rell has proposed a $15.5 million initiative to the state legislature to purchase laptops to improve high school students' writing skills. About 19,000 laptops would be provided to 9th and 10th grade students.

January 2005

Berkshire County, Massachusetts
The state of Massachusetts began a laptop program in Berkshire County, providing more than 2,500 laptops to middle school students in Pittsfield and North Adams.

The Bethlehem Area School District
BASD is in its second year of a laptop program involving thousands of computers.

Louisville, Kentucky
A laptop initiative in 4 schools with about 3,000 students and teachers.

Technology Immersion Pilot (TIP) Grant Program
More than 7,000 laptops distributed in Texas.

Clovis Unified School District, California
Clovis Unified School District enrolls approximately 34,000 in grades K-12. All intermediate and high school students, as well as some sixth grade students, have PC-based laptops.

Henrico County Public Schools, Virginia
Henrico County Public Schools enroll almost 43,000 students in grades K-12. All middle and high school students have Apple iBooks.

Maine Learning Technology
Maine's public schools enroll about 207,000 students in grades K-12. They provide Apple iBooks for all 7th grade students and teachers.

Michigan Learning Without Limits initiative
Michigan Public Schools enroll 1.7 million students. Fourteen school districts have implemented one-to-one computing initiatives in the State of Michigan. The character of each initiative varies district by district.

New Hampshire, September 6, 2003: 7th graders at 6 schools receive laptops.
Concord, NH: Governor Craig Benson this week officially launched a new era in education when he delivered laptop computers to all seventh graders at the six schools across New Hampshire.

New Mexico has announced a laptop initiative for 7th graders
